John Schroer, Tennessee Commissioner of Transportation (TDOT) held a press conference on Monday morning, Feb. 4, in Knoxville to announce additional work on the Henley Street Bridge piers that will delay the reopening of the bridge until at least the end of February 2014.
Bridges to Justice (http://www.bridgestojustice.org/) attended the Commissioner's press conference and held their own press conference to protest the Commissioner’s refusal to meet with Dwayne Sweat and Carlos Guzman, employees of Britton Bridge who are currently on strike over dangerous conditions on the Henley Street Bridge project to keep the issues of worker safety and responsible contracting in the public eye.
This gallery contains images of the press conferences and of the present state of the bridge reconstruction project, on which two workers have been killed.
